For those of you lucky enough or adventurous enough to have sailed down the Nile on a Felucca, you will have already discovered the many delights of the sun saoked, sand kissed beaches. The Temples of Philae, Kom Ombo or karnak.

We would like you to share in those experiences, to tell us about your time along the Nile. How did you spend those romantic evening's listerning to the sound of the waves lapping the edges of the tiny boats or waking to the sounds of morning prayer from a near-by village. Did you encounter any wildlife amongst the bushes along the banks of the Nile?. What are your memories of the Nubian villages or the villgers. Tell us of your adventures onboard ship - if you dare. Did you share in the delights of nubian cusine or dance around the campfires silhouetted by the backdrop of the Nile.

Re: Felucca Cruise along the Nile

I took an Imaginative trip Feluca Journey and am happy to tell you about my journey.
My felucca (Nura) was big with eight of us on board and plenty of room. Being a guy I guess I should not have, but did have concerns about the closeness of the accomodation.
As it turned out our leader decided who was on each boat and the offer to change if we wanted the next day. No one did. I got to know people I traveled with like no other trip I have taken.
The views shocked me with the Nile banks natural beauty. Not one factory from the time we sailed, a big surprise. The Nile water was clean and fresh every morning for our daily wash. The sailors treated us like royalty, got to know us gradually and became a part of the group, yet remained sailors seeing to their chores without fuss.
Reading and sleeping and gazing at the world passing by took up our time on-board.
I have to say that the stops were frequent, for either toilet or a wonder round. We met some local farmers who smiled, shook our hands and then stood by and watched. No pushy selling that one experiences in the towns of Luxor and Cairo. Simple people who were colorfully dressed and always smiling. Sounds a little like a guide book, but the smiles were abundant.
Our nights sitting by the fire singing or dancing or chatting stand out in my memory as the second most interesting part of my journey down or up ! the Nile.
My first and foremost memory to remain forever will be the calm of the Nile, the sailors leaving us to our thoughts and sailing for hours on end, just sailing and sailing and so so much to take in as we did.
Thanks to Ahmed and everyone who made our journey truely outstanding.

Re: Felucca Cruise along the Nile

What can I say? Did it last September (Jenny and Sameh). Felucca part of the tour rates up the with the best I've done anywhere. Fulfilled a lifelong dream to sail the Nile and having done it that way - I can't imagine ever going on one of those huge cruiser ships.

The perfect combination of sun, sea, stella beer, decadence and ever changing landscapes from tropical to desert right up to the water's edge.

The nights under the stars were brilliant. Being caught in the spotlight of a Nile cruiser at night as they barrel past is something else.

The Nubians were especially fantastic. What a genuinely friendly, warm, honest and welcoming race of people they are! Without a doubt the most gracious hosts. The final night's beach bonfire was something I'll never forget.

Waking up and hearing the mosques going full ball in prayer-call is a liberating experience and the greetings we received from villagers at each of our rest stops was simply overwhelming. Would do it again tomorrow.

in a word - unforgettable.
