Hi all
Thinking about booking the felucca journey for the 30th March next year. Would love to hear from anyone who's been or is going on that trip.
Cheers to anyone who can answer the following questions:
*How cold does it get at night?
*While on the felucca, is the water usually calm or can i expect it to be quite rocky?
*Is it quite expensive to stay in Cairo?
Thanks Lisa & Max

Re: Felucca Journey
Hello
I have just completed two weeks on the 'Felucca Journey' and I would definitely recommend it. Quite a lot of early starts and a busy itinerary except for the days when you are on the Felucca and then you can really relax - so a good overall balance.
I found it did get cold in the middle of the night, even when the average day time temp was over 30 degrees. We were all glad to have our sleeping bags.
The state of the Nile is very dependent on the level of wind. We had two days of good wind and one very calm day. It never felt rough at any stage even when the wind was really blowing hard.
Can't answer your last question as I did not stay extra nights in Cairo so I don't know what kind of prices you might have to pay.
Overall - a brilliant, relaxing & interesting trip. The Felucca is just such a highlight - sailing down the Nile, watching the scenes passing by and sleeping under the clear sky. Do it!
Re: Felucca Journey
Was on the Felucca Journey in May and had a great time !...
Yes, it does get cold at night.. I only had a fleece blanket (no sleeping bag) and had to wear most of my clothes at night...
Although the wind was blowing, the felucca trip was never rocky (and I am subject to sea-sickness !)... Cant predict the weather though !...
If you book the hotel where you stay on the trip (Indiana hotel, if it is still the same), I dont think it would be that expensive to stay a couple of extra days in Cairo...
Have fun, it is an amazing trip !... If Lu is your leader, tell her Karin from Canada said "Hello !"...
Re: Felucca Journey
Hi Lisa and Max
I went on the felucca trip this summer. I agree with the others, it does get cold at night so you do need a sleeping bag!
The water was calm on the boats, but i expect that changes sometimes.
I stayed extra night in the Indiana hotel where the tour starts from and the hotel wasn't expensive. It is also cheap to eat out. There are a few things to do in Cairo, but I personally wouldn't spend too much extra time there (though the Bizarres are excellent and you can easily spend a day or 2 on them!)
Its a brilliant trip and I highly recommend it. The feluccas are great fun, much better than I imagined.
Hope this helps
