I have one more question to anyone who has done one of the felucca trips. How cold will it be on the Nile at night on board the felucca? Will I need a sleeping bag or can I get by with just a sleeping sheet?

Re: felucca's
Hi Sashaa
Throughout the year, on the Nile you can experience extreme contrasts in temperature between day and night.
While you are sailing throughout the day the temperature will be very comfortable, but at night time this will drop dramatically. More so on the Nile, than in land, due to the wind and lack of land cover etc...
The Felucca will have a canopy that can be erected for protection against the sun during the day and dew and wind etc.. at night.
The deck is covered with mattresses and cushions where you will sleep comfortably, "sardine style" across the boat, but please note that bedding is not provided, so I would recommend bringing a sleeping bag as opposed to a sleep sheet... It is better to be too warm and unzip your sleeping bag than to be too cold and not be able to do anything about it.
Cheers and have a great trip!

Re: felucca's
From what I gather from the brochures, I wouldn't to a feluca trek if you are bothered by people snoring.
Re: felucca's
We went up the Nile on the Felucca in the MIDDLE of Summer and we needed our sleeping bags at night. Some of the group took sleeping sheets only and they weren't warm enough for them.
You'll love the Felucca - definately one of my hightlights!
Re: felucca's
I did the felluca trip in 1999 and it was the best as they say. It was summer as well and we needed our sleeping bags!
Its amazing when we stopped at nights and the locals joined with drums and sang with us.
Pls. also have in mind if you do this trip to go to Abu Simbel
