Does anyone have any suggestions on good/cheap airlines to get to Egypt from Canada?

Dear Kozy,
As you must get to Egypt through another carrier hub, I would suggest trying to get a cheap flight to either London or Frankfurt and then pay the regular fare from either London or Frankfurt to Cairo. We recently flew to Frankfurt and picked up a flight to to Cairo (return Frankfurt/Cairo is between $C523 and $C608; return London/Cairo is between $C500 and $C615 -- as of this writing).
Happy travelling - the cruise on the Melody is a true highlight of the Nile cruise!

I found that when I booked my flights in October, it was very expensive to book a single ticket on a single airline so I broke it up into 2 separate tickets. Try using kayak.com.
I'm flying Calgary to London on Air Canada and London to Cairo on British Airways. Mind you, I also made it even cheaper by using the $150 flight credit Air Canada gave me for stranding me at the Vancouver airport for 12 hours when I went to Hong Kong.

For some reason when I try to find flights independently (like Toronto-London then London-Cairo) it turns out more expensive. I used sidestep.com to find the cheapest flights and what I've found now is $1280 each...out of our hometown. It was from Sault to Toronto to Rome to Cairo.

I just checked and it looks like Kayak and Sidestep are now one and the same!
PS: the 1280 flights I found are to be compared to $2800 (what the travel agent at Sears told us it would cost - each)
