I am going on the Nubian Sailtrek in December. The itinerary says we start in cairo but the meeting point is a hotel in Giza. Is Giza a suburb/area of Cairo and is the hotel easy to find?

Thanks

Re: Giza

Hello Lyndall,

Yes Giza is a "suburb" of Cairo, it's where the Great Pyramids are situated on the Giza Plateau. This area is quite built up which one doesn't expect.

As I have never been to the Indiana I can't make a comment on how easy it is to find, but Imag. Trav. will be able to advise.

Hope you have a great time & remember to have a lemon juice for me.....

Re: Giza

Hi Lyndall,

As Debbie says Giza is just an area of Cairo.

If you are arriving on day one of the itinerary or before you'll be eligible for a free transfer between the airport and hotel, this will be arranged by us. You won't have to make your own way to the hotel. If for any reason you do not take the transfer, you should take along one of our trip dossiers which have the name and address of your hotel written in Arabic. You can then flash this at a taxi driver (expect to pay approx 42.00L.E for the journey).

Let me know if you'd like a trip dossier sent out to you.

Re: Giza

Dear Chris,

Thanks for this info. I already have a trip dossier with the address of the hotel. I assume that when we get to the airport there will be a person holding up a sign with our surname. I guess I should email our flight details to Imaginative Traveller closer to the date so they can arrange our transfers as we have booked our flights through our travel agent not through Imaginative Traveller (ie Intrepid in Australia)?

Regards

Re: Giza

Hi Lyndall
My girlfriend and I have just come back from Egypt and stayed in the Indiana. This Hotel is fairly close to the Egyptian Museum, which is fairly central as far as Cairo goes.
We arrived at 2 am and a rep was there to help us through customs and get us to the hotel. Very nice guy and the taxi ride is not for the faint hearted. We were amazed not to see any accidents. Enjoy ;-)
Just a note of warning. If you are buying your visa at the airport just watch your change. We paid more that we had to.
If you have a choice of rooms at the Indiana go for 509 or 510 which we found were the best that our group (Fellucca Journey) stayed in.

You will have a great time. Egypt is just amazing.

Paul

P.S. If you meet Hamada from the Lily fellucca say Hi from Tall Paul who sailed their boat for a day.

Re: Giza

Hi Lyndall,

You should look out for our representative who'll be carrying an Imaginative Traveller sign. In Cairo or man will meet you before you reach customs and immigration.

To set up your free transfer and to meet you we'll need your flight details otherwise we won't know when you're turning up.
