Myself and my friends will be going on the Sailtrek and Sinai tour in March. I was reading thru the departure information and it tells women to bring a head scarf. Is this necessary for this particular tour? How big does this scarf have to be if I need one? If anyone has any experience please let me know. Thanks Liz

Re: Head Scarves
Hi Liz,
If you are travelling on our Sailtrek & Sinai tour you will not need a headscarf as part of your required clothing. However, you may want to bring a piece of clothing with which you'll be able cover your head should you wish to visit any Muslim sites of worship which would require a code of dress.
We also advise women travelling to the more remote parts of Yemen to carry some sort of scarf for use when visiting mosques. In Iran where clothing restrictions are much stricter, you may be refused entry into the country if you are in breach of their dress regulations.

Re: Head Scarves
I have just returned from a Sailtrek and Sinai trip over Christmas. It was fantastic and I am sure you will have a great time. I used my sarong whilst on the felucca as a headscarf - mainly for protection from the sun more than anything else. I also bought a cheap woollen sarong type scarf in the Aswan bazaar (quite large) which I used a lot on the felucca at night when it cooled down and also during other parts of the trip as an extra layer for warmth.
Hope you have a great time
Emma
Re: Head Scarves
Liz: Scarves are readily available for purchase at any souq along the way and they are considered proper attire at any mosque or holy site. AND you can't beat them for throwing over the head in mid day sun. It's fun to have a galabaya also.
