Hey kids! In a few months time a friend and I hope to be sailing down the Nile on a fantastical fellucca sailtrek! However, said friend is very sheltered and, among other things, is afraid of being eaten by scorpions. So in an attempt to calm her nerves I have offered to track down some hearty adventurers like yourselves and seek your wisdom of such things. (Mostly I was just wondering if any of you have been on any of the Egypt tours and if so perhaps you could share some of your expiriences?)
Thank yee in advance!
Trek on. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Re: Holy deadly scorpions, Batman!!!!
Wow! I think you would be very lucky (or unlucky!) to see scorpians on your trip. I recently did the Nile and Beyond tour which is three weeks, and goes out into the western desert and the sinai region... I didn't see a scorpian or anything like it! One guy in our group saw a pretty big spider in the Sinia in the toilets.... Which really freaked me out even though I didn't see it!
Have a great time. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Re: Holy deadly scorpions, Batman!!!!
hello Roam,
I have travelled to Egypt twice, the first time back in '99 for approx 3 weeks, the second trip in Dec/Jan '03/'04 for approx a month.
In those 7 weeks I can honestly say I NEVER saw a scorpion. Have seen them back home in OZ but am yet to find one in Egypt.
I have travelled from Alexandria to Abu Simbel, visited the Fayoum Oasis & across to the Sinai, am yet to visit Siwa & the Western Desert regions. So I guess I have covered a fair area of Egypt.
I have never seen a spider in Egypt either. Hope this helps your friend.
You're in for the holiday of your life. Remember to pack an open mind & heart. Wish I could join you.
Kind regards...........debbie.
