I have visited Egypt few years ago and did hot air baloon flight near Luxor. If you are willing to fly make sure that your your guide knows about your plan. It seems that for every activity you pay, he gets a cut. Don`t be suprised if they get you to pay for the flight through EFTPOS at the jewlery store near by. Anyway if your tour guide is running low on pocket money i can guarantee you will get opportunity to do your flight.

Re: Hot air balloon rides - Luxor
I hope its OK to say this here, but the official line from Imtrav will generally be that hot air balloning is not recommended because of the risk. Some of us on my trip did it anyway and we were asked to sign off and back onto the tour either side of the trip but with good humour - it is fair enough I think!
We went with Sinbad tours and paid 450 EGP (

Hello guys!
The official line from the Imaginative Traveller is that we are not able to book these for clients as the company that runs the excursion does not hold proper insurance.
If you choose to book a balloon trip anyway you can do so locally and have to sign a waiver.
