IMHO, Hurghada is a fairly grim, built-up coastal 'resort' that it's best not to spend very long in. It is really best just as a stopover point before crossing to the Sinai, I think. On my trip we stayed just one night and were glad to leave. We bumped into another ImTrav group who stayed there for 2 nights and none of them were impressed, but their Tour Leader had given them some options and some of them enjoyed snorkelling (it doesn't matter how grim the built-up surroundings are if your head is under water!).

Be careful about quad-biking. Some of our group arranged a trip from a local company when we were in Dahab. Everything looked fab on first appearances but once they saw the equipment and particularly the state of the safety equipment on the day, they pulled out and had to engage in much discussion to get a refund. Your Tour Leader may be able to offer advice but from my experience Tour Leaders vary. Some will point you in the direction of this sort of activity, others are more cautious because of health and safety concerns.

Remember also to check if your insurance covers you for this kind of activity.

I checked, my insurance will cover me if I do decide to go quad biking or snorkeling.

I'll wait until I get there to decide. Thanks to your advice if I do go quad biking I will insist on seeing the equipment before I pay though

On our jewels trip we hardly spent any time in Hurghada but loved the time we did spend as we went snorkelling at the Blue Hole. It was one of the group's highlights.

I think it will depend on the group makeup and other activities.
