Hi,

we've been checking visa requirements for Australians and the only one that gives us a few concerns is for Jordan.

The consulate says we can apply at the border from Syria (on our Footsteps of Alex trip). Checking the web, it recommends getting it beforehand or if on a group trip, checking the operator is arranging a group visa on arrival.

Will this be the case with ImTrav? Or the visa is easily arranged on arrival in any case?

thanks

Re: jordan visa

I have been having a hard time getting a visa for Jordan. Here in Canada I got the form off the internet which was an american one but I sent it in with the money in American dollas to Ottawa. The money order was rejected because it was in U.S. funds but not the form. Although the form asked when you would be arriving in Jordan they date the visa from the day they receive it in Ottawa consequently the visa in my passport will be expired by 5 days by the time I get there. So nothing doing I send again for another visa, same forms off the internet and and a canadian money order for the right amount. This time the form was rejeccted as it is not a Canadian form .On the phone I tell them that they accepted the american form three weeks ago. Too bad they won't accept it now. Canadian forms are not available on the internet.
I am so frustrated and running out of time as we leave at the end of the month for India. I may have to end up getting one at the border in Aqaba as my efforts here seem to be futile.

Re: jordan visa

Hi There,

Sorry to hear about all the trouble you've been experiencing, sounds very frustrating indeed.
I will just advise you to double check that you will be able to obtain a visa at the boader with the consulate and what requirments you may need such as cost and passport photos.
Other passengers on your tour may also be obtaining there visa on the boader too.

Kind regards
Robert

Re: jordan visa

Thank you for your reply, the Embassy in Ottawa told me to get our visa at the border which they said would be easier because of the time we would be away before arriving in Jordan. Now as the Jordanian Embassy in Ottawa has my passport and money but no form, they said they E mailed the forms to me but I have not received them as of yet, I am sitting in Limbo wondering should I wait and see if they send the forms or should I phone once again and ask them to return our passports, we leave for Among the Maharajas at the end of the month,I did not want to hold up the tour by having to stop and get a visa at the border. Will take your advice what do you think?

Re: jordan visa

Dear ballylawn

Thanks for your reply, it sounds like a very frustrating process!

As Robert explained in his post above, we unfortunately cannot give specific visa advice.

However you have definitely done the right thing to check with the Embassy in Ottawa, as they will have all the most up to date information for you.

It is likely that some other members of the group will also be getting their Jordanian visas on the border (particularly Australians have problems getting them in advance), and while it does delay the group slightly it sounds like you have done your best to do this in advance and I am sure the other group members will be understanding.

If you can ask your travel agent to advise us that you are definitely doing this then we can make sure the tour leader is aware in advance.

Many thanks and have a great time!
