There are no better people to talk to about your visa application than the embassy of that country so I would stick with the advice of the embassy.
Ourselves and STA try to help as much as possible but the ultimate decision must be taken by the traveller and since entry procedures can change from time to time and vary by nationality it's not really possible for us to provide this service to everybody.
I hope this helps.

Re: Jordanian visas- help!
Imogen,
I arranged my own visa for Jordan and I am Australian. I just downloaded the form from the Embassy of Jordan Australian Consulate website, used and Express Post Platinum bag (express post & courier so they have to sign for it, cost about $16.00 and included another self addressed one to send back to me). It took the Embassy a week to get my visa back to me.
You have a choice of a 1 month Visa(single entry $33.00 or Multiple Entry 6 month Visa $63.00. The embassy also requires a photo, as well as your passport.
It was the easiest thing to arrange (i got the 6 month visa), and the Embassy is in Canberra and I live in Melbourne.
The form is exactly the same as the one you use if you live in the UK for Australians as I have a friend who downloaded the form, but I beleive the requirements are a little different.
I also used STA as the travel agent, however my travel agent told me it would be cheaper if I did my own visa's for Egypt and Jordan, as I walked my visa to the Egyptian Consulate in melbourne and did my own Jordan one, STA can arrange for a fee $80.00 to do the visa's for you.
Hope this helps.

Re: Jordanian visas- help!
Hi
I just have a question. I read the Embassy of Jordan Australian Consulate website and it says that the visa for Jordan is valid for a month after it is issued. So is that 1 month after you entre the country or is it 1 month from when you get the visa.
I am going to eruope for a month then heading to london for 5 days, then egypt for 9 and finaly Jordan. as you can see that would be more then a month after i get it.
It was just a little confusing.
Thanks

Re: Jordanian visas- help!
I got it at the border - and am an Aussie. Myself and one other female (also an Aussie) did it at the border. Our tour leader helped us through the process - but it is a bit crazy. You have to pay in Jordanian money (can't remember what it is called) but if you don't have any with you the exchange rate you are offered is pitiful - so if you do decide to do it at the border make sure you have local currency before you get there and let your leader know that you will need his/her assistance. All that being said - it would SUCK royally to be denied at the border.

Re: Jordanian visas- help!
Judging from the visa I have on my passport form the Jordan Embassy which I got a couple of weeks ago, it is a month from the Issue date. I went with the 6 month option, to be safe as Jordan is not the first country on my itinerary either.
