Hello!
I'll be starting the Jewels of Egypt tour on May 4th, 2008.
I was wondering what the laundry facilities are like during the trip. When I went to China in august, I packed way too much clothing. But if I pack less for Egypt, I'll have to do more laundry.
-Would I be able to do laundry every city?
-Do you use the hotel laundry or does the tour guide take it somewhere cheaper for you? (in china that's what our tour guide did for us, but I'm not sure if that's normal)
-Is the service decent? i.e. do they put the colors/darks with the whites so you end up with gray clothes?

Re: Laundry Facilities - Jewels of Egypt
Hi there
I found the laundry service really good in Egypt, and very cheap. I normally did my own washing of smalls and a tee or two if we arrived early somewhere - things dry really quickly in Egypt. Less is always more when it comes to packing - especially in Egpyt - and if you need something, you can pick it up for a song anyhoo.

Sounds good.
Then is this enough to pack:
-1 pair of shorts
-1 pair of capris (+ the pair worn on the plane)
-5 t-shirts (with sleeves)
-7 pairs socks (with it being so hot there, these 2 would need to be changed more often anyway)
-7 underwear
Re: Laundry Facilities - Jewels of Egypt
I'd recommend taking a small bottle of washing liquid with you so that you can wash smaller items when you need to. This really helped when i went travelling.
hope this helps
Re: Laundry Facilities - Jewels of Egypt
Not wanting to disagree with Nat .... another option is to use shampoo instead of laundry liquid

Hi Fuzzypuppy -
I think on the Jewels of Egypt tour you will be on the Melodie, and the staff there can send out laundry. We did that and it all came back pressed and fresh smelling. In Cairo, there is a laundry convenient to the Santana and the Indiana, if those are one of your hotels.
One tip: only pack what you can easily carry, because you may need to carry your own luggage through train stations (we did on Nile Safari).
