I am booked on the Egypt Adventure trip for October and will be spending two days pre-departure in Cairo alone.
opinions seem to be mixed on the safety of solo women in Cairo.
Can anyone speak to this? I will be dressed appropriately but have read that not even this will prevent harassment from would-be romeos.

Travel together in pairs or groups -- the locals will try and help you across the streets (no traffic lights and lots of lanes of moving vehicles); then try to get you into their "cousins" shop and in some instances lock the shop doors until you buy something. Several of our group -- men and women had this happen. Crossing the street is an adventure in itself but remember than you must be brave of heart and go for it!
