Luxor to Abydos & Dendera

Hi

From the itinery of our trip it looks like we'll only have a free half day in Luxor. Does anyone know if that is enough time to get to Abydos and/or Dendera and back before we have to catch our train back to Cairo at night?

Any advice appreciated

Dear Wayne

Great to hear that you are coming over to Egypt. Iam sure you will have a wnderful time.

To visit Abydos and Dendara, you will need to join a convoy from Luxor that leaves every morning at 8:00 am , the convoy gets back to Luxor about 1:00pm.
So if you are doing a tour includes a free morning in Luxor, that will allow you to visit Abydos and Dendara and gets back to Luxor before the train leaves. If you have a siteseeing in the morning and you will catch the train in the evening , unfortunatlly there will not be enough time to do the visit to Dendara and Abydos.

Sadly it seems that the Pharaoh's Tracks tour has only free afternoons in Luxor so I guess we will have to miss Abydos & Dendera.

A good excuse for a return vist !
