What is the best way to do money for Egypt. Should I get Egyptian money before I leave, or can i get it at the airport, or in CAiro easily? Should I take traveller's checks, US dollars, or a credit card? I'm from the US.

Re: money exchange
Hi, I did the NRS tour a week or so ago.
We took a small amount of Egyptian money with us just in case we needed to get a taxi, or for an emergency when we arrived. (40 uk pounds worth, which was about 150 Egyptian).
As it turned out we didn't use this immediately - but it was reassuring to have.
There are plenty of places to change money in Cairo. We waited until the first night of the tour and shared a taxi between 4 people to the Sheraton hotel - where there are two banks side by side, so you can compare rates (as advised by our tour leader).
Hope this Helps
Edwin.
Re: money exchange
Hi Shareen,
Further to your question, we generally recommend that you carry the majority of your funds (70%) as travellers cheques as these provide you with greater security.
You may prefer to obtain a small amount of local currency before you arrive but be aware that the exchange rate will be much higher outside of Egypt. It will be possible for you to find banking services in the Arrivals Hall of the airport when you arrive at any time of day and night.
A Credit Card will be an invaluable back-up should you need it but is not somthing to be depended upon as your main source of funds.
Hope that puts you at ease, enjoy your trip.
