Hi all,
I am doing the Nile and Sinai tour which departs Cairo on 30th July 2006.
I am travelling alone so I was hoping to start talking to some other people who will be doing this tour before I head over.
Also, I would like some advice from people who have been to Egypt before. The dossier's all suggest that a backpack is the best luggage to travel with. I am against this as I will be away for 9 weeks in total (only 2 in Egypt) and have been told by other travellers that a suitcase is easier for Europe.
Is it a big drama taking a suitcase through Egypt? Would there be many occasions on this tour when I would have to carry my bag for much longer than from the hotel to the bus etc?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Lauren

Hello Loz,
A suitcase with wheels should be fine as you will be expected to carry/drag your own luggage at some stage through your tour. Such as from Hotel to bus & if you are travelling on the Wagon Lits train, from the bus to the platform & visa versa.
A soft side one is better than a solid type suitcase. I have taken a wheeled suitcase on both of my tours of Egypt.
On the first tour my suitcase arrived back in OZ very much worse for wear. For the second trip I purchased a soft side bag with roller blade wheels......this one made it back safely & was easier to manage. I would also suggest taking a small daypack for carrying water, camera's, film, tissues, wetwipes etc.
Hope this helps, Have a wonderful time....as always I wish I were going too.
If I can help in any other way, just drop me a line. Kind regards.........Debbie.

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the information.
The suitcase I have is soft sided with wheels so from what you have said it should be fine.
I also have a nice back pack which I was planning on taking for day time anyway.
Takes some of the worry away![[Smile]](smile.gif)

You do have to carry your bag a little bit further than the hotel to the bus from time to time. In Cairo for example, when you are getting on a big bus, the streets around the hotels are too small for the big bus to get through, so you have to carry it for a little while... Only about 5 minutes. So not that far.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I recently got back from the Nile and Beyond tour. It was a great 3 weeks and you'll have a fantastic time.

Re: Nile and Sinai July 2006
Hi guys,
Sorry to drag up an old topic.
Was just wondering if there was any doing the Nile and Sinai tour starting 30th July? I know there are at least 4 people on the tour with me and was hoping to chat with any of you before I leave as I am travelling by myself.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Nile and Sinai July 2006
Hi Lauren,
Well I'd love to be going along with you!!
Don't worry about travelling alone, you'll be fine. I have travelled alone for all my tours in Egypt. Yes the first time I was a little concerned. But once you've been in Egypt for a few days, you soon realise just how safe it is & you can then relax.
So, hope you have a wonderful holiday. As always, wish I could be there too
All the best.........Debbie.
