hello everyone, me again. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts regarding the merits of a felucca journey vs. a stay on a nile cruise boat?

Re: Nile Cruise vs. Felucca.

hey riddler,
i don't think one is better than the other. i guess it's just up to personal preferance [Wink]

when i was in egypt i went on a nile cruise boat. i'm not the type of person that can go without my basic amenities for long so the cruise boat appealed to me.

however, if you don't mind going without basic amenities for a couple of days, then go with the felucca.

i found it pretty amusing to walk through the lobbies of other cruise boats and having a bit of a peek in [Big Grin]

i do believe that even if you go on a cruise boat, depending on the tour you go on, there is a day set aside in the tour where you spend a few hours on a felucca. to me, this was just enough time.

but as i said, it is up to personal preferance [Smile]

have fun!

Re: Nile Cruise vs. Felucca.

Hi Riddler and Gezbelle,

I think Gezbelle has summed it up nicely. Both offer a fantastic experience and on the cruise option there are more amenities available to you (showers, toilets, etc) than on the felucca.

If you are not bothered about your basic amenities for a few days then I would recommend the felucca as it's pretty mesmerising sitting a couple of inches from the river Nile for 3 days (I personally sat and watched the fish go by for hours on end, very sad I know).

If on the other hand you like your creature comforts and do not like the idea of going to the toilet behind a bush for a few days then you'd probably prefer the cruise option.

The felucca option is very rewarding and the lack of facilities is really not as bad as it might sound! I would jump at the chance to spend 3 days on board one again.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan
