If you're planning on doing laundry in Egypt or Jordan, you pay by the item. One very small load of underwear and a few t-shirts was a lot more expensive than I had expected. Invest in a few quick dry t-shirts that you can wash in the sink and have dry by morning. I'd also think about bringing as much underwear as you have room for. Keep in mind it will be hot, sticky and dusty...you'll probably want to shower more than once a day.

Oh, and if you have a student card...bring it! It's like 50% off all sites in Egypt.

Also, if you can wait until you get to Dahab, the tour leaders know a great place you can get all your clothes done for the cheapest price possible. So, try and wait until you get there. Definitetly worth it! Mind you, if you do need your clothes washed, probably best to pay the extra so you don't smell the tour out!! ;o)

I plan on taking some washing powder with me so i can do most of my laundry by hand. I'll probably have bigger items such as towels, long skirts or dresses done at the hotel but for underwear, bikinis, t-shirts etc it'll be just as easy to wash them on an evening and leave them to dry over night.
