Just how bad are public restrooms in Egypt? Privacy level? Types of facilities? Cleanliness?

Re: Public restrooms
Hello Maycroft,
Some of the facilities are fairly primitive, but I can't remember any that weren't private. Some are a bit grotty, whilst there are others like the one at Karnak Temple ( Luxor) that you felt as though you could eat your lunch off.....it was kept spotlessly clean by a cross eyed fellow... full marks to him for his work!!
You have to pay to use the toilet facilities, however don't begrudge the cleaners this money as that is the only wages they earn. I took lots of tissues with me as it costs extra for toilet paper.
Whilst visiting some of the sites you well find mobile toilets ie. like a trailer with say 6 toilets on top ( 3 female & 3 male.) Other places have quite good toilet facilities.
Have a great time.......wish I could be there too.
