Good afternoon everybody,
Yesterday I received the long expected phone call, my trip has made it's minimum participants and will departure on August, 30!
Woohoo!
Of course, that's wonderful. But now starts the preperation. I've got a few questions about the trip and what to pack.
Does ImTrav have my flight details for the transfer? Seeing that I'm a young girl travelling alone, I would like to make sure that my transfer is ready for me!
The dossier tells me to pack a sleeping bag or sleeping sheet. Which of the two is recommended, concidering I'm travelling in September (pretty hot!). I'd rather not pack a sleeping bag, for it's too heavy. Is a sleeping sheet warm enough on the boat and in de Sinai?
Also, I've got some sturdy trainers. Is that good enough to climb and descend Mt. Sinai? I'd like to descend of the 2-million-steps-stairs, :P.
And I know from these forums that most of the traveller's on the Adventure style trips take backpacks in stead of suitcases. Is this really necessary (hhmm...Dutch spelling?)? I don't have a backpack, should I go out and get one?
And finally...I know you probably won't give me this information but how many people have booked so far? And what age range and nationality? I know you won't give me this, I work at a travel agency so I know the drill, ;).
But I hope I will at least get some answers on the other questions and maybye (?) get in touch with groupmembers.
Thanks in advance!
Yours, Esmay

In my experience Egypt will be hot in August, and I would imagine a sleeping sheet would be fine. If you are at all worried I'd say take some long trousers and a fleece / pashmina scarf and you can always layer up a bit of you are chilly. You'll need to take something warm anyway, for when you do the Mt Sinai climb.

Sturdy trainers should be fine for this, quite a few people have sturdy trainers rather than walking shoes, as they might not want to buy them specially.

Backpacks are a good idea as they are squashy (for small spaces on the train and felucca) and they leave your hands free for carrying other items. However having said that there have been plenty of people on the tours I've done who take suitcases and they get on ok. Just make sure it's not too big and that you are able to carry it up and down stairs.
