Hi
We are taking the Nile tour from DEC 17th to 26th. I understand Ramadan fasting will be going on- Will restaurants/ shops, etc. be closed during the day?

Re: Ramadan in Egypt

Hi Shuklas,

While in Egypt you will experience the Ramadan festival. The resuaurants/shops will be open during the day. They will open late each morning, around 10am onwards and close for 'Iftar' the breaking of the fast at sunset for about 1-2 hours.

On arrival your Tour Leader will inform you about the festival and the customs that surround it, plus advice to you and the group on behaviour and dress during this holy month.

If you can, while in Cairo try to get to Khan El Khalili one evening after Iftar. This is where the city gathers at the Al Hussein Mosque and the surrounding Bazaars and coffee shops. A wonderful experience.
