Hi: We will be on the Jewels of Egypt trip during Ramadan and are wondering if this will impact our trip at all i.e. hours of operation of stores or bazaars, are restaurants open for lunch, etc.

If anyone knows we would appreciate your input.

Thanks!

Hi DonnaM

The month of Ramadan dose not cause too many disruptions to general amenities in Egypt. The majority of restaurants will still be open for lunch in the towns and cities that this tour visits and of course lunch will operate as normal whilst you are on your Nile cruise.

As Ramadan is taking place in the heat of summer this year, expect to see a lot of thirsty tired people but generally Egyptians enjoy the month of Ramadan.

The period of the day when most stores/general shops will shut down will be at sunset time - things will grind to a halt for the breaking of the fast (for about 1 hour). However this is a great time to be out in the streets to witness the Ramadan festivities and the general hospitality of the Egyptians.

I hope this helps, have a great time in Egypt!
David
