Hi....
Did anyone go on the River and Reef tour??? Was it great or mediocre???
My 5 friends and I (all girls) are debating whether to do this tour or Nile Valley and Red Sea (the "traveller more inclusive) version ...and we definitely don't want to "felucca". Were the conditions at the "simple hotels" acceptable? How much extra did you spend on food/admission?????
Any help would be appreciated....
Thanks,

Re: River & Reef tour
Hi natassia
I went on this trip and loved it! The hotels were all clean, air conditioned and were generally good quality. The cruise was fantastic (we were on the Amy rather than the Melodie but I'm sure the Melodie is even better from what I've read of other's experiences).
I really can't remember what I spent on food and admission, but I know it wasn't a lot (otherwise I'd remember it more clearly
). Some parts of the trip have changed slightly since I did it, but you can check out our trip in more detail here if you're curious http://www.melissalawrence.com/egypt_2002.htm
Re: River & Reef tour
Hi,
I am also booked on the River and Reef tour in a few weeks. I am trying to book some diving in Hurghada at the end of the tour, but cannot find out what hotel we are staying at in order to inform the dive centre. Can anyone who's been on the tour let me know what hotel they stayed at, or whether the hotel is far out of hurghada (so I know whether I need to book a taxi for getting to the dive centre)?
Re: River & Reef tour
Hi Claire,
Sorry - I can't remember the name of the hotel we stayed at, but it was only a 5-10 minute walk from the dive centre we were using, and close to the centre of town. We changed to the Sand Resort when we stayed on for a few days after the tour - it was a great place.
Have a great trip,

Hi Natassia ,
Thank you for your post. The hotel that we usually use is the Empire Three corners hotel, you can find more details at:

Re: River & Reef tour
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to say that the Three Corners was an abslolute delight to a ill, weary traveller....me!!
I was a member of the Jewels of Egypt tour in Dec '03. I became ill & an Imtrav representative organised a Dr to attend to me at the Three Corners. The Dr returned with the medication required to get me back on the road to feeling better, for which I was & still am very gratful for. The Imtrav rep stayed whilst the Dr was seeing me & then organised a meal to be brought up to my room, as I was required to rest as much as possible.
It was Xmas eve the night we were there & thr visitors were being entertained by children singing Xmas carols. It was truly beautiful. A few from our group (including myself) got up a sang an aussie carol. The crowd gathered loved it & we were even asked to sing again later that night, which we laughed about as we were pretty bad!!
I went into the site Sam posted & it brought a smile to my face as I remembered sitting near the pool with a few of the tour group, enjoying a drink in the evening.
I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Three Corners......even just to enjoy the swimming etc that I missed out on last time.
All the best........debbie.
