Middle Eastern Odyssey 25Mar traveller to Syria, Jordan and Egypt.
Hello to anyone going on this. Has anyone had any contact from ImTrav on the subject of safety in Jordan etc? Seems to be the odd terrorist activity in these countries at the moment owing to recent events. How about some re-assurance ImTrav?
Cheers
Mark

Re: Safety in Jordan
Hey Mark,
Thanks for your post.
We take the safety of our Travellers extremely seriously and when deciding to run tours in a region we take advice from both our local tour operator and the Foreign Office. We have not been advised by either party to cease operation in Jordan and continue to run tours there. However we continue to monitor the situation closely should this situation change and in this event Travellers will be contacted immediately.
It is important to note that the FCO identify several places around the world as potential 'flash points' but they do have to go on the worst case scenario just in case. However they do make a very valid point on the website that 'approximately 51,000 British nationals visited Jordan in 2004, mainly as tourists. Most visits are trouble-free'.
I hope this helps and please do not hesitate in contacting me either in here or via email to online@imtrav.net should you require further assistance.
Kind Regards,
Robert
Re: Safety in Jordan
Thanks Robert
I have kept an eye on the FCO site but with less than 3 weeks to go to my trip I would have appreciated an 'on the ground' email from ImTrav assuring me that your local representatives have had no problems and that I dont have to pack my Kevlar waistcoat !!
Cheers
Mark
Re: Safety in Jordan
Hi Mark
We recently got back from Jordan on the Jordan and Egypt Adventure. The terrorist attack at the hotel where the wedding party was had just occurred before we went.
We found Jordan to be very very safe. You really don't have anything to be worried about.
Im Trav wouldn't allow the tour to happen if there was an imminent threat.
