I haven't yet booked but am considering the Sailtrek and Sinai tour in late July/early August. I know it's going to be hot, but wonder how others have managed the heat. Have any others done this or a similar tour at that time, or, better still, has anyone booked for this summer?
Thanks,
tequila

Re: Sailtrek and Sinai - July/August
Hi tequila,
Just wanted to wish you a good holiday. My friend and I are going on Jewels of Egypt on August 13th so we might overlap a bit if you are going at a similar time.
I hear it will be very hot but that if you cover up and drink lots of water you should be ok. Hopefully other people who have travelled at this time of year can be more helpful.

Re: Sailtrek and Sinai - July/August
I'm in the process of costing everything for the Sailtrek and Sinai and think I might book for the 15th July.
Have contacted the office and I believe there are at least 4 other people booked on this tour.
Re: Sailtrek and Sinai - July/August
We are booked on the felluca sailtrek on 15 July. Not sure if these trips are combined or simply run alongside each other, but either way may see you there!
Counting the days already!
Re: Sailtrek and Sinai - July/August
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to wish you the very best on your holidays. You know I would love to be able to travel along with you
. But sadly it's impossible for me at this time. The drought here in Australia continues to erode my finaces (this is year 9). Along with our petrol prices, which forces the cost of everything else to skyrocket.
So have fun & think of me when you're in Aswan. I just love the Nile River there. It's almost a spiritual experience.
Kindest regards........Debbie.
Re: Sailtrek and Sinai - July/August
tequila - i went on the sailtrek and sinai last august. it was vv hot (48 degrees on the hottest day!), but most of the hotels had some basic form of air-con, and on the felucca it was fab and breezy!
my main advice would be to drink loads of water, and i also took a sachet of rehydration salts every day, regardless of whether i felt i needed it or not! also, if you are dressing appropriately to the culture, you will probably find yourself covered in loose clothes, which helped.
in short - it was extremely hot, but manageable. i had an amazing time, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!
