I know it's a 'how long is a piece of string' type question but I wondered if people who had been to Egypt recently could give an estimate of how much they spent while away? I kno that I can use ATMs but I wanted to have a rough guide so I could budget. I'm planning a 15 day adventurer style tour so will need to buy most lunches and dinners... and I've no idea how expnsive meals/drinks/entrance fees are likely to be.
Would be grateful for your posts!

Re: Spending money for 2 weeks adventurer-style holiday in Egypt
Hey Ginfizz,
Im yet to go on my tour (only 16days), so i prob wont be as helpful as those who have been to Egypt. To work out my budget i got average costs and enterance fees from a Lonley Planet guide, Tour Dossier and Egypt Country guide. and for 26 days in egypt i have budgeted for around AUD1700(GBP680). Knowing me i have most likley over budgeted. I have found other posts on here where people have said they did it easy on 120-200EP per day.
hope i could be of some help.

Hi Ginfizz,
Thanks for your question. Thanks for your input too Aaron.
I actually took a 15 day Adventurer tour in Egypt myself a couple of years ago (Sailtrek & Sinai) so I can advise you how much I spent whilst on tour.
My total spending for the 2 weeks came in at just under

Re: Spending money for 2 weeks adventurer-style holiday in Egypt
We've just returned from a trip through Egypt and wished we had budgeted much more. In addition to meals and souvenirs, tips (baksheesh) are expected from most people, for most things, and not all of these will be covered by your tipping kitty.
You will also need to have small bills available to pay every time you go to the bathroom.
Also at several tourist locations there are additional fees for options within a sight that are not covered by the entrance fee. Two examples: if you would like to go into a pyramid you will have to pay extra. If you would like to visit certain rooms within the egyptian museum you will have to pay extra.
Optional excursions also ended up costing a lot more than indicated in the dossier because all logistics can't be anticipated so...better to take a little extra money and not have to stress.
Atms are everywhere but not all of them work with all cards. The best place we found to both use an atm and exchange money in Cairo is at the Sheraton Hotel.
We had a faboulous trip-- Egypt is an amazing place-- enjoy!
