The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) have upgraded its statement regarding travel to Israel and Palestine.
In particular they "advise against travel to the Old City of Jerusalem until further notice & visitors should also avoid all unnecessary journeys within Jerusalem."
Additionally our local offices in the region note that some border crossings between Israel and Egypt and Jordan are closed.
The Imaginative Traveller have the following trips due to visit Israel this week.
1. "Ancient Cities and Desert Kingdoms" & "Jerusalem, Petra & Beyond" - 8 Oct
These groups are in Cairo and their itinerary will be amended so as not to visit Israel, but spend additional time exploring Jordan and the Sinai.
2. Israel Connection 15 Oct & Israel Insight 16 Oct
These trips will not visit Israel. Clients will be offered the following choice: -
a) An alternative itinerary in the Sinai in Egypt.
b) A full refund of the land tour arrangements. (As usual any flight arrangements must be taken up with the airline concerned.)
Clients booked to travel to Israel in the next two weeks:
In all likelihood the situation will change over the next day or two and FCO advice will change accordingly making it possible to resume tours to Israel. Clients due to travel over the next two weeks should therefore monitor the situation, under the assumption that our trips will operate if possible. We will keep you informed as the situation develops.
We will keep you updated should the situation change and will not hesitate to amend our trips in the interest of client safety.
