I know Imaginative Traveller recommend getting a visa before you go, but I've left it rather too late (depart London on 22Feb). Trailfinders have just told me it would take them at least 6 working days, and given how poor every other aspect of their service has been, I'm not keen to risk it.
I understand that it is possible to get a 30 day visa on arrival. Please, can someone let me know exactly what I'll need to have with me (photos, currency, any other documentation??)?? I can travel on either a British or a New Zealand passport, whichever is easier.
Many thanks,
Cathryn

Re: Visa on arrival
Hi Cathryn,
Sorry to hear about you visa troubles. You don't actually mention which country you will be attempting to enter, this may affect what visa facilities are available.
The bottom line is to contact your embassy in your destination country so that they can advise you abouth getting a visa for your visit.

Re: Visa on arrival
Thanks for your reply to my post - I was having a very bad morning with trying to figure out the visa, so I must have lost the plot and forgot to say which country. I'm going to Egypt, on your Kingdoms of the Nile tour departing 24 December.
Do you know how to do this? I tried ringing Trailfinders (from whom I bought the tickets), and after listing to their advertising while on hold for 15 minutes, was told to ring their visa section, which was constantly engaged and when I finally got through, was absolutely sure it could be done, but didn't know how. They have a visa service, but it takes 6 days, plus getting my passport to them and back again, so I don't think I have time. I tried ringing the Egyptian embassy, which doesn't often answer its phone, and went through 4 different numbers before being told it was

Hi Cathryn,
Please don't panic, you're not the only person who has been in this situation and you certainly won't be the last.
To obtain a visa on arrival in Egypt you will need a valid UK passport and it will cost approx
Re: Visa on arrival
Thanks - much appreciated. I'm not panicing, really :-)
Re: Visa on arrival
I have been to Egypt with Imaginative for four trips now and every time have obtained a visa on arrival. Its much cheaper and easy.
I suggest noone bothers with the embassy in the UK as they are a rip off and take an age to process. Get it on arrival.
And, keep one egyptian leira ready for a trolly if you have a large suitcase.

Re: Visa on arrival
I agree, just get it at the airport. Last December I wasted two days in Istanbul getting my Egyptian visa and paid about $80 Canadian, my sister flew into Cairo from Toronto at 1am and paid about $20 when she got there. Have fun!
