I have found it very difficult to get a visa for Egypt. I was advised against waiting and getting it at the airport in Cairo so I attempted to contact the consulate in San Franciso. All calls and letters have remained unanswered. A friend told me that in order for her to get hers, she had to spend at least $100 and had to send her passport somewhere. I was told it would only be $15. Help!

Re: Visas
I am heading to Egypt in December and will be getting my visa on arrival. I have been to Egypt on many occasions and can vouch to obtaining my visa on arrival without a problem. I once considered the postal option but found the embassy to be useless. Don't panic, get your visa on arrival.
Re: Visas
I visited Egypt in September and got my visa from San Fran before departing the US. It took them about a week to process the application and it cost $15 plus the cost to have my passport returned to me via FedEx. Visit their website and make sure that you have the correct address and phone number. You can even download the application form there.
Re: Visas
My visa cost about $56nz for the Visa and $55nz for Travcour, so about $45us all up, took about a week, but it was sent to aussie.
my travel agent sorted it all out for me.
Re: Visas
Hi Anne,
Further to your question regarding your visa.
In event of an emergency you will be able to obtain a visa on arrival in Egypt. However, we strongly recommend that you organise one before you leave. It will take a little time and hassle to get your visa before you leave but you will have the benefit of worry free entry into the country.
Enjoy your trip.
