Visa for Egypt
Hi, we live in S.W. Ont. going on Jewels of Egypt tour in September. It is very simple to apply for your visa before leaving Canada. You can download the form from the Embassy of Egypt website in Ottawa and send this form with your passport, $26. money order, prepaid express envelope. We had our passports stamped with the visa and returned within 6 days. The phone numbers for the Embassy are 613 234 4958 or 4935 or 4931. if your province is Ontario. If not, I am sure their website could help. Hope this helps. Jean
Egypt Visa
My sister and I travelled in 2007 into Cairo and were met by the ImTrav pick up driver -- our plane was 3 hours late and he was still waiting at the arrivals area (inside with the travellers), gracious, helped us obtain our Visa at the airport - USD $25 and helped us exchange our money. We truly appreciated his presence (he was hired by ImTrav to pick us up). Unless things have really changed, you can just get the visa at the airport!

Middle Eastern Odyssey
Hi Aleo
I can add a bit of information to the above - If you do not already have an Egyptian Visa you will be able to obtain one when crossing from Jordan into Egypt. You take the ferry from Aqaba(Jordan) to Nuweiba(Egypt), on arrival at the ferry port you can buy a 3 month tourist visa for 15 USD(as of March 09).
Your tour leader will be able to assist with this, can take 30 minutes or so but it's fairly straight forward.
Hope this helps
All the best

Middle East Odyssey
I am a Canadian travelling in the Middle East Odyssey trip next month. I had inquired 2 months re: visas for Syria, Jordan, and Egypt. I have obtained the Syrian visa. Two months ago, I was informed that I can obtain the visas for Jordan and Egypt as I travel with the tour group crossing the land borders for the 2 respective countries. Is this information still applicable currently?

I'm a US citizen. I got all my visas from the embassies here in DC, but both the Egyptian and Jordanian Embassies said that US citizens could obtain visas at the border. US citizens can't get a Syrian visa except from the embassy here stateside.
Good luck--if you are on the trip beginning 14 November, I'll see you!

Is anyone else booked on this trip?
I am trying to decide what clothing to pack for warm and cool temperatures. I understand the desert is very cool in the evenings as well as the hike up Mount Sinai, and the night in the Bedouin camp. Will it be warm enough to swin in the Dead Sea?
Thank you kindly
Lynn
Hi Lynn
I went to Jordan last New Year and we swam in the Dead Sea - the temperature was okay (and I'm always cold). However, we found it too cold to swim in the Red Sea a few days later as, even though the sea was warm, the wind was freezing. I would pack layers for the desert - I had thinsulate thermals, which worked well. Layers are also good for Mt Sinai; the hiking will keep you warm but you will probably get cold at the top waiting for the sunrise.
Have a fantastic time.
