Hi! I'm travelling with a Canadian passport, and I called the Egyptian embassy about a Visa and they said I can get it when I arrive in Cairo. Do you think it's safe to follow their advice or get one ahead of time? I also understand that, as a group, we can get a Jordan Visa free at the ferry port, is that true?
And what kind of vaccination would I need for the Egypt and Jordan caravan

I'm an American--should be no different, though.
We got our Egyptian visas upon arrival with no problem; in fact, the guy ImTrav had engaged to pick us up got them for us while we were waiting to go through customs. I've never been through an arrival process so fast. He was amazing.
For Jordan, we were on our own, and it was scary when they took our visas on the ferry, but in the end, we got free ASEZA visas at the port upon landing. Groups were processed ahead of individuals.

My experience has been exactly the same as Warren's. I travel on a New Zealand passport.

Thanks everyone for the information. This really helps. I'm really looking forward to this trip. Please share any tips or stories from your past experience.

Hi Skok,
My wife and I are booked for the ImTrav "Treasures of the Nile Valley," starting in Cairo March 9. Then we finish with the "Jordan Connection." Any chance we might be on the same tours? Just curious.
By the way, we're getting our visas before departure. Our travel agent here in Calgary advised us to do this so as to eliminate any potential problems. From the other posters it sounds like it's ok, too, to wait.

Re: Visas for Egypt and Jordan
Hello Everyone,
I actually prefer to get my visa's in advance, I've done several tours in Egypt & have always travelled this way. I know it's just personal preferance, but I'd rather have my visa's already covered than risk arriving & for what ever reason, be turned away at the border!

Hi! Larry,
My tour starts on March 30th and ends on April 14th. Hope you have a great time on your tour. I will be getting my Egypt Visa in advance and will get the Jordan Visa when I get there. I downloaded the application form for the Jordan Visa and it says that if we are travelling with a tour group, the Visa will be free of charge.
