I must say after reading so many helpful tips, reviews and general excitement on the Jewel of Egypt tour and Egypt in general I now feel that my wait for my tour to start even more unbearable.
I just wanted to say that reading this forum has given me so much more excitement about going to Egypt that I am now counting down the hours until I hop on my flight to Cairo on the 6th of August. This forum has also eased any fears I have had about being a lone female traveller in Egypt. The Egyptians just sound lovely.
I just want to ask how has everyone else beaten the waiting blues? Any tips on how to ease the waiting period?

Re: Waiting Period
Hello K8T_C,
It took me 40 years to get to Egypt that very first time!! I loved it!! When Im back home in OZ, Egypt calls to me ALL the time. So each time I arrive home, I'm already planning my next trip.
Im hoping to make a return trip in April...Inshallah (God Willing)! This time I hope to travel in parts of Egypt I have seen before, but also to Abydos & Dendera, which I believe are beautiful!
In between trips I spend LOTS of time reading & researching. I go over all my pics & plan how I am going to improve certain ones. But most of all I dream of being there again, just can't wait to be back on that plane!
Each tour I have done in Egypt, has been with Im Trav. I have found their tours well structured, their tour leaders are THE best. They constantly go out of their way to ensure that each & every tour members gets the holiday of a life time. Im Trav always we travellers, to see the grass roots of a country, if that is the way we wish to travel. They also have top end tours that are truly special......I have had the pleasure of experiencing both types!
Hope you have a wonderful time planning. I suggest you read as much as possible, watch lots of doco's & just enjoy the building excitement!! Of course you will have heaps of fun packing!!
Hope you have a wonderful time.........Debbie
Re: Waiting Period
I am quite thankful as to how it has come about that I am going to Egypt. I had previously booked for a tour through Russia however it has now been cancelled 6 months in advance so I was stuck with the question "where to now...?" Then I spoke with my wonderful travel agent who highly recommended Im Trav, so I looked online and Egypt just jumped out at me.
I have learnt so many things about the country in the week I have had since finding Im Trav and booking for JOE. I imagine I won't ever stop learning about this wonderful country. I love hearing and seeing as many pictures from other people's adventures in Egypt. I must say Debbie, your photos were beautiful. Thank you for sharing them.
The excitement is ever increasing and I'm sure my partner is getting tired of hearing "Did you know in Egypt...." But I'm also sure that's because he's jealous he can't come too.
Have you travelled to other countries with Im Trav?
Re: Waiting Period
Well, this certainly won't make the waiting any easier but it will tell you exactly how much time you've got left:
Your Countdown
I set it for noon but you can change it to your own flight time. You can create new countdowns here. Best of all, the time query is in the URL so you can bookmark it and it will always countdown to the same time when you visit that link![[Smile]](smile.gif)
Re: Waiting Period
Ha ha... Thanks for that fuzzypuppy. I'm not sure whether it helps with the wait but it definitely gave me a chuckle.
Re: Waiting Period
Hello Kate,
If I bring home a new DVD of Egypt, my other half groans & says...."not Egypt again"!! So I know what you mean!!
So far I have only travelled through Egypt with ImTrav, however I am hoping to "someday" visit Jordan & Morocco, maybe even next year...Inshallah (God Willing)!!
Of course it would sooooooo much easier if we didn't live so far away!! The costs of flights from OZ are horrific. I was so jealous when I read how little it can cost to fly from Canada
Wishing you a wonderful time planning...........Debbie
Re: Waiting Period
Haha! So I'm not the only one who's so excited about the trip. Hubby and I are doing the Jewels of Egypt tour starting 6th April, we leave Oz on the 1st April, so each week I've been sending him an email, letting him know how many weeks.
Only 6 weeks now and yes like Debbie said, I read all sorts of stuff on the Internet a couple of times a week, I've made endless lists - what to pack, what I want to see, eat etc!
So yes, I'm feeling your excitement too.
