Hi,
I did the Jewels of Egypt tour last year and have booked two tours for this year, Western Desert & Treasures of the Nile Valley. Just wondering if a sleeping bag is neccessary for the Western Desert - going in mid September. It was quite warm in October last year, although I wasn't in the middle of the desert...

Just wondering if anyone has done this tour and thinks it is needed?

Re: Western Desert

Hi Loza,

You should bring a sleeping bag with you for the Desert part of your tour because, as you say, the evenings can get quite nippy out in the desert and you'll be camping out that night.

You can view a full kitlist for both tours in the trip dossiers, available from www.imtravdossiers.com.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan.

Re: Western Desert

Thanks, I'm sure I'll be able to find one between now and then.

Another question I should have asked before...
When I went on the tour last year the itinerary had the train from Alexandria -> Luxor although the train wasn't working at Alexandria so we had to drive to Cairo to catch the train. Our tour leader wasnt sure whether the train was going to be working again from Alexandria - so just wanting to see if you knew as the Treasures of the Nile Valley has the train from Alexandria -> Cairo?

Re: Western Desert

Hi Loza,

As far as I am aware you will be using the train between these two cities and there is no mention in the itinerary that the train is no longer operating and this has not been mentioned to us.

It's not a great distance as you are aware so if the worse comes to the worse we can always arrange a replacement bus for you. The trains in Egypt are normally quite reliable (when compared to British trains for instance!).

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan
