Gadgets / Kenya Wildlife & Water

Hi,
We are on Kenya Wildlife & Water 4 Aug 2007.

Could you let me know the availabilty of electric power at the various stops (to charge cameras, mp3s, gameboys etc.)?

I'm just deciding whether to get a camera with a rechargable battery pack (need mains power to charge it) or with disposable batteries (no mains required, but may need to buy more batteries en route).

Ta
Andy

Re: Gadgets / Kenya Wildlife & Water

Hi, just a quick update to close this one off. The solar charger worked well (charged before departure) until it was depleted. The weather in Nairobi / Masai Mara was overcast so didn't provide enough 'oomph' to fully recharge. By the time it was sunny (on the coast) there were British 3-pin plugs in the rooms or the resort, so the charger wasn't necessary!
In conclusion, a wind up charger may have been more useful for this particular trip I think...

Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy
Would love to hear from you after your Kenyan Wildlife and Water trip in August. Good/bad things, suggestions, comments etc.

It would be very useful.

You must all be looking forward to it - as it's not far off now. Have a great time.

Many thanks
Jane

Hi Andy,

Don't worry, I'll let you off [Wink] It seems like a very good idea and it's good that you have already tested one so know that it works okay.

Regards,
Brendan

Cheers
Andy
P.S. Don't know whether you allow product recommendations on the forum - if not, I won't be upset if you delete this!

Re: Gadgets / Kenya Wildlife & Water

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your questions.

You will have access to powerpoints at various stages of your tour. My advice would be to take a combination of both standard batteries and a charger so that you always have a supply of batteries on the occasions when you are camping but do not rely on inefficient batteries throughout, thus cutting down on the weight of your luggage.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan
