Have just booked myself and my two boys (8 & 9) on the Pharoahs and Feluccas 18.12.04. We're well used to travelling in Europe but travelling with a group to such an exotic place is really new and exciting. Have soaked up all the information I can on visas, currency, mosquitoes etc. but would like to make contact with anyone else booked on this trip to share thoughts and information.

Re: Pharoahs and Feluccas
hi, while not on your tour we haev just returned from the October trip. It was fantastic. The kids had a great time and so did the adults. Our guide, Hazem , was the best. Everything was well organised and the people were so friendly. I 'd suggest you learn a few of the easy Arabic words like shukran - thankyou, sabah el hir good morning and the numbers to 10 . use them and the Egyptians open up to you. They love the children.
Cairo had a lot of Mosquitos and some of the kids were bitten at night while they slept so really use the creame a lot. Do every thing on offer. Never be scared or worried. it was Fab!

Re: Pharoahs and Feluccas
Egypt certainly is a great place for kids. Not only are the sights jaw-dropping but the people really make you feel welcome and are genuinely pleased to see kids.
If you're travelling in December the problem with mosquitoes that Ceri mentions will be far less noticeable, especially in Cairo.
The best thing to do is either (a) keep the a/c on all night - mosquitoes don't like to cold or the draught.(b) spray the room with insect killer before you go to dinner and keep al the windows shut. By the time to come to go to bed the room will be pest free.
