I am doing the Night Safari in Singapore and it says that I have to call Tour East 24hrs before the tour, I will still be in Australia at that time, do I still have to contact them??

I don't think you need to book a tour to see the Night Zoo. It's is something that you can just do at your own leisure.
When I went I used the train and local bus to get there (it takes quite a while though)or go by taxi (not expensive), and just paid the admission price. A lot of stores give away free passes to some of Singapore's main attractions, zoos, bird park etc - you might get lucky as the entrance fees can mount up.)
Make sure you pay extra for the trains which take you all around the park in a number of different directions and is an absolute must to get the best out of the zoo. There are very good guides on each train who point out the animals as they come into view. You can then walk around at your own pace to enjoy the animals close up.
Then just taxi back to your hotel. I can't remember how much the taxi was but it wasn't much. (Maybe $S14, guessing though - it was two years ago and my memory's a bit dim).
Of course, it might be much cheaper going through a tour company I guess a bit of detective work on the Net will provide the answer to that.
