Hi, I am going on the Nile Safari as well in October. Have not booked Abu Simbel yet as I am looking into it. It sounds and looks very interesting, however after researching have found out that sometimes the flight is delayed and you only get 45 minutes there. It is quite expensive (both my husband and I will be taking this tour)as well. Do you think that we will be sorry if we miss out on this and do most people take this option? Thanks...

Re: Abu Simbel Also

Hi Tracy,

I visited Abu Simbel last March & would recommend you spend the extra money on this side trip. You will be blown away as you walk around the corner of this amazing temple & set your eyes upon it for the first time. The interior is just amazing & when you think that this mountian was cut into blocks & moved to it's present site due to the construction of the Aswan dam.....just incredable!!

I found that only a handful from my group went, however those that did thought it was worth the extra money. The main cost is the airfare, due to the roadclosure...will reopen "oneday".

I hope you have the trip of your life...wish I could tag along!!!

Where in the brochure does it list the price for Abu Simbel? I can't find it.

How much time is spent there?

Re: Abu Simbel Also

Hello Sailor,

The flight to Abu Simbel was approx. 1 hour (I think). I can't remember cost. It didn't feel as though we were there for all that long, but the time allowed was quiet sufficient. The guide is very knowledgable & answered any questions asked in a detailed manner. There was time to wander about on your own & take lots of photo's before heading off to the bus for the airport.

I hope this helps, have a great time!!

Re: Abu Simbel Also

I would definitely recommend going to Abu Simbel. In my opinion it was the best site in Egypt. I was also worried that the time spent there would not be enough, but there was plenty of time. We were probably there for about 45-60 mins and that was enough. There is a very short (2 min) bus ride from the plane and then you are at the site. The two temples are in the one spot so there is no time wasted walking.

I was told before I went to Egypt, that it is not worth going to Egypt if you do not see Abu Simbel, if feel this statement is quite accurate, and would definitey recommend going.

I want to go, but unfortunately, although I have posted several questions/comments regarding price, etc, I cannot get the information I am looking for.

My travel agent provided me with all of the information regarding price of Abu Simbel. Why don't you try asking your travel agent. They should definitely be able to provide you with this information.

Sailor,
I just got an email from my Travel Agent and she quoted me a price of 90 British Pounds to see Abu Simbel. It is recommended that you book it before you leave to insure you a spot on the day that you need. Be sure to contact your travel agent.

Re: Abu Simbel Also

We are going on the Sailtrek/Sinai in mid November. We are travelling from Aswan to Abu Simbel on Egyptair. The cost is $210.-CDN. The flight lasts forty minutes and there are many from which to choose. What I did is look up the Egyptair website and then contacted our travel agent who made the booking. If you don't have a travel agent you can probably book online.
