Hi to all.
I am supposed to meet up a fellow country mate in Hong Kong when I travelled there alone, but I received news that he is going to be busy in Hong Kong, and lots of excuses. So, obviously, he is standing me up, and now, Im to travel alone.
This is my first time travelling alone, and, I really hope to have some advices bestowed upon me so to make sure that Im safe.
Most people I consulted said that Hong Kong is much like Singapore, the country I come from but a minority said that HK has the highest crime rates in the world. So, would like to seek you guys' opinions!
Hope to hear from you guys soon.
Take Care.
(it would be extremely wonderful if there is anyone who is going to Hong Kong around that dates too)

Re: Advice
Hi Huishan,
Thank you for your post.
I have spoken to my colleague who has been to Hong Kong and she said that she felt very safe to travel around on her own. Obviously you will need to take the normal precautions you would in any big city. Stay alert, carry a bag that is attached to you in some way, have a money belt, don't walk around quiet places at night on your own etc etc.
Re: Advice
Hey don't worry about Hong Kong, it is very safe..Not much different than Singapore..Not sure there is any truth that HK has the highest crime rate in the world..
But as in any city u travel to..things can happen so always be aware to watch your money and personal things and you should be fine.

Re: Advice
Hi there
I've travelled to Hong Kong alone (single white female) and felt very safe. Public transport and taxis are easy and cheap, food is wonderful and cheap, lots to see and do. And the people were lovely.
I've travelled to many places on my own and there are a couple of really basic rules: stay somewhere that is clean and safe; do your homework and have a good map; keep your valuables safe; and remember you're there to have fun!
I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Kaye
