Hi,
We are planning a trip to africa next year. We are going to Tanzania (ngorongo/serentgeti) and maybe vic falls and botswana (chobe/ockavanga). When is the best time to go to view wildlife in these places?
We went to kenya in July and the game viewing was fantastic, but next year we are not going to be able to go in the summer. is september/october o.k. and would we be better to wait until october to try and catch the migration in the serengeti??

Re: Africa- when to go

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for your question.

In Botswana the best time to visit in terms of the weather is April to October, which also happens to be the easiest time to view game when the grasses are low. The weather is dry and warm during this period and September is considered the best month by many.

In October in Tanzania you would be likely to encounter some migrating zebra and wildebeest heading back from the Masaia Mara in Kenya. June to October is also the main dry season.

I hope this helps.
