Just having a look at some of the trips for '08 and I've noticed that there seems to be a trend towards not including the airport transfer.
I've got to say that the airport transfer is actually a real big help - arriving in a foreign country after a long haul flight it is a real relief not to have to bargain with taxi drivers to get to a hotel in an unknown part of the city. So it's a real pity to see that this is being discontinued on many trips.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to my Vietnam trip in December. Yes it will be definately be great not having to worry about getting to the hotel when I first get there!

Re: Airport Transfers
I had also noticed this in the new brochure and was a bit disappointed. Our transfer in Cairo was 'interesting' but at least you don't have to worry about paying etc.
Re: Airport Transfers
Oh that's a shame. The airport transfer is one of the things that made ImTrav attractive to me, as a newbie to travelling alone.
Lynneteacher, I'm going to Cairo soon and would love to be prepared so if you could share more about your 'interesting' transfer.....?![[Wink]](wink.gif)
Re: Airport Transfers
Hello Guys,
Cairo transfers are infact still included. The only tours that do not include transfers (as a rule) are the adventurer style tours. Traveller and Connesieur tours still included them as do Egypt tours.
We can still arrange arrival transfers please just mention this at the time of booking.
I hope that this helps
All the best
Kate
Re: Airport Transfers
Our interesting transfer was okay really.
My friend and I had not really been away anywhere like Egypt before so were not sure what to expect and were a bit overwhelmed by it all. The guy who met us was perfectly fine but not overly pleasant. He directed us to the luggage belt which was surrounded by piles of bags and kept going round and round with not many bags on. We were just beginning to despair that our bags would never arrive when they did. The guy appeared again and was keen to get going so we had to race after him with our rucksacks as we hadn't had time to get them on our backs properly so we a bit tired by the time we got to the van. We waved our transfers
document at him and we set off.
The traffic in Cairo is incredible and it takes a few minutes before you realise you are probably not going to die. Once the first day has passed it
becomes fun so don't worry.
We drove off and the guy said something about the hotel - I didn't recognise the name he said but thought it was his accent. We arrived at a hotel - it didn't seem to have the same name as the one on our documents and when we got inside discovered it wasn't out hotel! We then got back in the van and drove to the hotel we were supposed to be going to! The guy grumbled a bit and seemed to think it was our fault we went to the wrong place!
Overall it was fine just a bit of a shaky start. Don't let it put you off. We told our tour leader and he passed it on so you probably won't have any problems.
My opinion is: Cairo - hate it for the first hour but absolutely love it forever!
Have a great trip. Don't worry about travelling alone as I always felt safe in Egypt and would have been happy walking on my own if I had needed to.
If you want to see some pictures in advance I have put some here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lyncalver/sets/
Sorry I've rambled on a bit.
