I am planning to take the Nile Valley & Red Sea and the Alexanderia & Siwa Oasis tours in April.
I have read in a couple of travel books that there are strong winds that bring dust storms during this period. Have there been problems in the past? Do these storms interfere with visiting sites?
Please let me know.
Thanks,

Re: April Winds in Egypt
Hi Lynn
Thanks for your post.
The wind that you're referring to is known as the 'khamseen' - it means fifty in Arabic, and refers to the amount of days that it is meant to last.
Although it's always impossible to predict the weather, you should expect there to be occasional dust storms while you're out in the desert. Generally these don't really cause too much of a problem to our tours. It's difficult to say whether they would affect any sightseeing, but when I worked in Egypt a couple of years ago they were not a significant problem, and did not disrupt the schedules.
If you do get caught up in the winds, make the most of it - it's a truly unique experience, and would probably be one of your lasting, and most exciting, memories of your trip!!
I hope this information helps. Have a great trip!!
Regards
Jim
