You stated that all age groups are represented among your travellers but judging from the questions and forum comments posted on your web site, I'm guessing that MOST are 20-something or 30-something. Is this the case? What percent of 50-somethings and 60-somethings could we expect to find on, for example, the Yangtse & The Southwest trip?

Re: average age - another question
Actually, I asked that exact question of the travel agent that I booked my tour with, and he was good enough to give me a rough breakdown of the ages. (FYI, I'm on the ATYS trip from 09 Sep-29 Sep).
Let's put it this way: I'm 30 years old, and I'm at the LOW END of the age scale. Although not a majority, the 50 and 60 somethings are fairly well represented. I'm not implying that this would be the case on all of the trips, as I have no knowledge of those others, but that is the case on this particular one.
Hope this helps.
Re: average age - another question
It does help -- thanks! I hope to hear from others as well. Mixed age groups are great but it's not a lot of fun to be decades older (or younger) than the rest of the group.
Re: average age - another question
I know two sets of people who have been with ImTrav - one to china last year and one to thailand this year. Both on adventurer class tours. The age range was indeed varied but most were mid/late 20's or 30's. All were there for the experience and therefore of a similar outlook no matter what the age.
I was on a trip some time ago (not ImTrav) with a group of mainly late 20 early 30 somethings (I'm mid 30's) and one chap in his late 50's. He had a great time as we made sure he got to do things that he wouldn't have done if he wasn't a little egged on. He wasn't the slightest bit fit but we got him everywhere.
I'm on the journey across china in 3 weeks so can report back personally after that.

My spouse and I did "Beyond the Pyramids" in April and we are 50! Yes, the group was younger, but it was a great group and we never felt out of it!
Re: average age - another question
I did a trip to Egypt with Imaginative Traveller over Christmas 2001. We were 7 including the guide. We had 2 in their 20s (including the leader), 4 in their thirties and 1 in her 50s.
What was also interesting was the country-of-origin demographics. 4 NZ, 2 Australian, 1 British. Quite a surprise for a British company!

Hi
My friend and I are going on the Egypt 14 day tour. Both of us are Canadian women 40+. We look forward to the diversified origins and ages!

Re: average age - another question
Re age considerations. My wife and I are both67 and are active travellers. Mimi has just returned from 4 wks in Tibet which included trekking at 18500ft.We frequently travel independantly and have no problems.we arrive in a town and look for a cheap place to stay and then eat with the local people. The most important consideration is attitude and realistic expectations. When in Syria with I.T. we had a lady in her 70s in the group and she did fine. When the tour was over we stayed by ourselves for a week in Damascus and hung out with Roachie, the I.T. man , he was between assignments. We travelled by ourselves throught the nearby area and had a ball in the city.Go for it.
Re: average age - another question
I did China Explored in September - I'm 49 and the others in group (16 of us) varied from early 20s to early 60s - no-one even really noticed ages as we were too busy having a great time (and often the wrinklies had more stamina - especially on the Great Wall!)
Age is all in the mind. If you go to Australia, even if you are 90 something travel with Oz Experience - they have an image of being aimed at younger market but if you have right attitude they are right for you! And a brilliant way to travel - you don't have to do the bungy jumping etc!!!!
