Hi!
For this trip to Bali, are hiking boots absolutely necessary, or will sturdy trainers suffice? I'd like to travel as light as possible! How much will we have to carry own luggage during the trip?

It was also suggested to bring footwear 'suitable for walking on coral'- would strap on sandals do?

Thanks,
Laura

Re: Bali & Lombok Explored

Hi Laura

Thanks for your post. The trek on this tour has been given a B/C rating, meaning that it is moderate to strenuous. I would recommend that you follow the advice of the trip dossier and take hiking boots with ankle support.

Your strap on sandals will be ideal for beach walking and if you go snorkelling. The advice regarding footwear "suitable for walking on coral" does not mean that we encourage you to walk on the coral! In fact we condone such behaviour. However there maybe rocky areas underwater where it would be dangerous to enter without protection to your feet.

You will not be expected to carry your luggage long distances. Its a good idea to travel light but not at the expense of essential items such as those listed in the trip dossier and pre departure info.
