Re: Cairo
Hello Annette,
I don't know what tour you are going on, but you might like to include Khan El Khalili bazaaar. This is just a huge maze of shops selling anything from little knick n knacks to beautiful jewellery to clothing. remember to barter!!
If you haven't been to the Fayoum Oasis then your tour leader may be able to help organise a trip there & perhaps include the step pyramid of Saqqara ....Memphis & Abu Sir are close by, so perhaps you might like to include these as well.
If you are interested in a belly dancing or Sufi dancing show, then I believe you can see both on an evening cruise boat on the Nile at Cairo. Jim may be able to help with those details, as I plan to include these on my next trip
You might like to organise a horse ride from Giza to Saqqara? Your tour leader should be able to help with that.
What ever you decide, have a great time....wish I could be there too. Have a lemon drink for me.
Re: Cairo
Hi Annette
We recently did the Pharaohs Tracks tour and had a couple of days free at both ends. Definately worth the trip is the Citadel, which incorporates a number of buildings and has an incredible view across Cairo, the Cairo Tower is also a great vantage point for a 360 degree view and your ticket will include cake & a drink in the very kitsch revolving restaurant. Coptic (Old) Cairo is fascinating for it's Christian churches such as the Hanging Church & the Ben Ezra Synagogue. The Coptic Museum is also very good and worth a look. Have a great time. Cheers - Wayne
