I was told you need to wear long trousers in India and that three quarter shorts are not acceptable. I have been 3 times previously and wore these with no problems - have things changed?

Thanks for your post. I don't think anything has changed with regards to what's appropriate in India, and think that three quarter shorts should be fine. I just spoke to my colleague who recently went to India and she also wore three quarter length shorts with no problems.

I think possibly that what was meant could have been that shorts that show your knees are not really acceptable, and this applies to men as well as women. If you go into any temples you would have to make sure your knees and shoulders were properly covered.
