I'm keen to do your Persian Explorer through Iran, and know that I'll have to cover up(have dismissed the idea of cutting my hair and pretending to be a man - it wouldn't be very convincing and would probably get me arrested!!)
What do visiting women have to wear, and do we have to cover up the minute we leave the plane? If so, in what?

Re: Covering up in Iran
Hello Anabel,
The Imaginative Traveller provide a PRE DEPARTURE BOOKLET to all clients booking tours with us. This booklet details as much information about each destination for travellers before they depart. Here is a section from this booklet which answers your questions;
"CLOTHING AND DRESS
You will be refused entry to the country upon arrival (and onto Iran Air flights) if you do not observe the country's dress regulations.
Women:
Women must be covered from neck to foot in loose fitting clothes, preferrably subdued colours. Your clothing should show no hint of the shape of your body. Females must also cover their hair and neck completely with a headscarf.
Many Iranian womne wear western clothing and an inexpensive full length lightweight coverall called a "mantor" when in public.
Our representatives in Tehran can advise you about buying a mantor.
Men:
Men must wear long trousers and shirts covering their arms past the elbow. At religious sites sleeves must be to the wrist.""
Cheers
Marty
