Dokki or Doqqi?

Hi,

I just wanted to know if the Indiana (the meeting hotel for the BTP tour) in Dokki is the same as the Doqqi area shown in maps of Cairo? Thanks.

Hi Alex,

Yes, you are correct the Indiana is in the Doqqi district of Cairo.

You say Doqqi, I say Dokki. Let's call the whole thing o....(forget that last bit.)

Actually, you wouldn't happen to know if there any buses that pass along that street (the street the hotel is on) and their destination?

There aren't any buses that go directly past the Indiana. Where would you be coming from and where would you want to go?

Well I was hoping to take a bus from the Indiana to either the citadel or downtown cairo.

Hi Alex,

You are only a short walk away from downtown Cairo from the Indiana. If you ask the staff at the hotel for directions to Mogamma (between the Arab League building and American University, just up the road from the Egyptian Museum.) you can catch a bus from there to the Citadel.

However, if you want to take it easy, your hotel will be happy to arrange you a taxi. It'll cost you around GBP5.00 for the Citadel and take you about half an hour (traffic permitting) to get there.
