A girlfriend and I are tossing up between the Nile Valley & Red Sea tour and the Nile Safari tour. Any comments from those who have been.
Also how hot will it be in the middle of March.

Re: Egypt Tours

We had the same choice between Nile Valley and Red Sea (NRS) and Nile Safari.
We went on the NRS tour in the first two weeks of November.

We met up with the Nile Safari tour during the cruise up the Nile on the MS Amy, as they share the boat for this part of the trip (along with Kingdoms of the Nile).

Personally we are really glad that we chose the NRS tour over the Nile Safari.

The donkey trek through the Valley of the Kings was one of the highlights for us (Nile Safari also got there on donkeys as an option - but only along the main road and back; we went over the hills of the Valley).

In Cairo we got up really early one morning to ensure we reached the Giza Pyramids at 8am (tickets to actually enter a pyramid are limited to 150 per day). I was the first in the Great Pyramid that day!
I'm not sure if Nile Safari also do this?

Snorkelling in the Red Sea was another highlight for myself. My partner does not swim, but she still had a really enjoyable day on the diving boat, as it was well sheltered and there were always people with the boat (not everybody was in the water at once). Plus we stopped at a Red Sea beach for part of the day.

The NRS tour gave you guidance, but also plenty of opportunities to do your own thing as well. The Nile Safari tour appears more guided - and more sheltered (but also probably more comfortable, which may be your thing).

We spent 2 weeks on the NRS tour, and also did the Faiyoum and Alexandria extensions, plus a couple of extra days to ourselves in Cairo.

If you have the time and inclination for a little adventure and one or two early starts I would suggest NRS. If you like to be more comfortable then Nile Safari may be for you.

Re: Egypt Tours

Hello Sonya

I did the Nile Safari tour in March '99 . The highest Temp was approx 30 degrees C.

I had a fantastic tour , was able to wander about sights at my own pace & also recieve information from the very knowledgable guides & tour leaders.

On board Amy you are able to laze away on the sundeck with some lovely icecream (yum)or ice cold coke. The chef serves the best carrot soup I've ever tasted. I believe Amy has been refurbished since my tour (showers are fantastic)

Wish I could join you.........have a great time.
