Hi,

I know you must apply in advance for a Syrian visa but what about the other countries on the tour?

Is it a a stipulation of the tour conditions that you obtain all of the visas necessary for the tour in advance? Or is this just recommended practice?

Thanks,
Andreas

Visa

On my Syrian visa app they want to know the entry and exit points into/from Syria too.

Could you possibly find out this info (and the answers to my previous questions)

Thanks for your help,

Andreas :-)

Visas for "In the Footsteps of Alexander"

Hi Andreas,

Many thanks for booking to travel with Imaginative Traveller and for posting on our forums.

It depends on where you are from, but generally speaking from the standpoint of a British passport holder you can get the Turkey visa on arrival (you will need to pay for this), and British passport holders can normally also get Jordanian and Egyptian visas on arrival. Please see these links for the latest British Foreign Office advice:

Egypt

Jordan

If you are a Canadian passport holder see this link:

USA passport holders see this:

Australian passport holders:

Swiss:

Belgian:

In all cases, we can only offer general advice according to the most up to date information we can obtain, and the reason we recommend getting visas in advance is the peace of mind this provides, as Imaginative Traveller can't be responsible for anyone getting refused entry into a country due to lack of visas or incorrect paperwork. I do hope these links are helpful though.

In answer to your second question, here are all the border crossing names for this tour:

Turkey to Syria: Kilis- Azaaz Border - summer, and
CILVEGOZU(Turkish Part) and BAB-UL HAVA (Syrian Part) - Winter
Syria to Jordan: Ramtha
Jordan to Egypt: Aqaba - Nuweiba (ferry journey)

Best wishes,
Kelly

In The Footsteps of Alexander 08 March 2009

Hi again Andreas,

Good question! The 08 March departure is classed as winter. You can see the alternative winter itinerary for the affected part of the tour at the very end of the trip dossier, after the full itinerary description:

Thanks,
Kelly

This thread is very helpful for filling out the visa forms.

Just one other question:
For the syrian visa form, what do we put for 'references in syria'. (There is a separate area for the full hotel address)

Thanks!

Syrian Visa References/etc

Hey Mud,

I'm on the Istanbul->Cairo tour with my girlfriend. It appears to be almost an identical itinerary minus the ending in Egypt. We just received our Syrian Visas today.

I'm Canadian so I'm not sure how similar your visa application form may be but we used the following information.

References:

The Imaginative Traveller
C/O Jasmin Tours,
Ain Al Kerash, Fathi Al Atasi St,
Halabi Building, DAMASCUS
Tel: +963 11 231 75 97
Fax: +963 11 231 31 76

Destinations: Damascus, Aleppo, Old Town Hama and Palmyra

Addresses: We had a letter written by our travel agent to the visa officer of the embassy stating each hotel we would be staying at (unsure if they would be the same for your tour).

Hopefully this helps!

Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan!

The reference details you have given are exactly the same as what I would have posted too.

Regards,
Kelly
