Some of the trips in the brochure say trips are 'guaranteed to depart' and obviously this is good if you've booked your dream holiday, but what happens if there are only one or two people booked? Does this happen very often, and does anybody have any experience of whether this enhanced or detracted from a trip?

A week to go before my 4th trip with the IT. 2 trips (Egypt and S.India) only had 3 other people (and definitely not my idea of fun people), 1 (foothills of the Himalayas) - it was only me and my friend. Definitely made the trips less enjoyable as part of the enjoyment is to meet other people from around the world. However, good for getting through the books and I don't mind going off on my own. So advice - try and find out how many people have already booked (not that easy, the agents are reluctant to be precise. Tip - use the availability download to see trips which get booked up early.) If you do end up with only a few other people, and you don't want to spend time with them (outside the organised sight-seeing) then don't! It's your holiday and you are under no obligation to socialise with people you don't want to. I just went off to the markets, mainly ate on my own, talked to locals, read books.
